AccuProcess Modeler and Templates

ITSM Group partnered with AccuProcess to highlight how ITIL process modeling and simulation can benefit organizations and companies of all sizes.  ITSM Group, Inc. extended the capabilities of the AccuProcess Moleler by developing and creating process templates that can be used with the modeler application.  The ITSM Group, Inc. uses these templates to accelerate and jumpstart process design activities for our clients.  We also provide these templates for purchase for those who have the in-house resources to perform their own modeling and simulation.  We can create specialized templates for those clients who need them.

Our idea to create these templates begins with our corporate axiom that any proper design of ITIL processes and solutions is not effective without modeling and simulation of the designed process.  (In fact, this applies to any process, not just ITIL processes.)  Our ITIL process templates provide an initial modeling and simulation starting line.  Our templates address many of the challenges our clients see when beginning their process design.  They provide at least three benefits:  Ease of process documentation; ability to test designs before rollout; and support to improvement activities.

Ease of Process Documentation.  We have observed that many organizations or companies use “static” tools such as such as Visio or PowerPoint.  These are static in that they only show the process steps and don’t provide the means to capture and document the process activities, the roles involved, the cost of resources, etc. as the process is being designed.  Our templates include documentation information, which can be edited in AccuProcess Modeler, or it can be customized further using Adobe or Microsoft Word.  Our templates work hand-in-hand with the AccuProcess Modeler’s capabilities to provide this kind of documentation in .pdf or .docx formats.

Design Testing Before Rollout.  Our ITIL process templates come ready to be used to test and implement ITIL process.  The template can be changed to more match the organization’s “as-is” process if needed or it can be used as the “to-be” process.  In addition, our templates support an iterative approach to testing.  Each design can be tested, saved, the results can be analyzed, and then design changes can be subsequently tested.  This results in more granularity and more assurance of the design.  It helps eliminate impacts or risks before process rollout.

Support to Improvement Activities.  Many organizations or companies are looking to improve existing processes toward a more ITIL compliant version.  We designed our templates using the 2011 version of ITIL v3.  Our templates make the perfect starting point for improvement activities.  Our templates can service as the baseline process design against which future improvements can be measured.
